The Netherlands, 10 th October 2016 –– Bangladesh’s first ever DTH platform has selected Exset in order to create and deploy value-add news and dynamic advertising services. Launched in April this year, RealVU is owned and operated by Beximco Communications Limited.
RealVu has licensed Exset’s CAS 4.0 and DMS 5.0 – Exset’s value-add ecosystem – to power services initially including dynamic advertising and local news/listings information. The technology is pre-integrated with highly cost-effective set-top boxes. The operator also has plans for a NVOD service, which can be accessed via the EPG, as well as a dongle-based PVR.
Andrew Pons, Global Director of Sales and Marketing said, “These are exciting times for television in Bangladesh. We have worked with RealVu to understand the market conditions that it faces, articularly in terms of the overall value proposition and the best way to maximise operator revenues, while also increasing overall subscriber numbers. Central to this is DMS 5.0. with its value-add service capabilities, providing additional revenue streams over and above video.”
Subscribers pay a low cost monthly subscription for the DTH service, which launched with 105 channels including five in HD. Initially the service rollout was being handled by local partners in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong. That is being expanded across the country and is backed up with 24/7 customer care capabilities.
